One visible message can be several segments
Twilio documents a limit of 160 characters for a single GSM-7 SMS. Once parts are concatenated, each segment normally carries 153 because assembly data consumes space.
For UCS-2, the corresponding limits are 70 characters for one part and 67 per concatenated part. Billing is normally per segment, so a short-looking message can cost two or three units.
Greek copy can change the encoding
Many lowercase or accented Greek letters are outside basic GSM-7 and trigger Unicode. Emoji, smart quotation marks and some symbols can also move the entire message to UCS-2.
Do not automatically strip accents or switch to Greeklish just to save money. Preview the encoding, test the exact template and decide whether any saving justifies weaker readability or brand tone.

Sender ID changes function and price
An alphanumeric sender identifies the business but often cannot receive replies. Twilio’s official Greece and Cyprus guidelines list alphanumeric-sender support and no two-way SMS, but that describes its routes rather than every provider.
Request separate pricing for a text sender, system number, dedicated number or each available option. Confirm registration, permitted content, STOP handling and number-portability behaviour before building a workflow around replies.
Add VAT and fixed costs
Check whether the public rate includes VAT, which country issues the invoice and what applies to your account. Tax treatment depends on the business, countries and transaction, so confirm it with an accountant.
Add the platform subscription, sender registration, dedicated number, minimum spend, support and credit expiry. With bundled software, dividing the entire subscription by included SMS units ignores the value of features you also use.
