“Cheapest” needs a common unit

A price per SMS is not always the price per message a customer sees. Long or Unicode copy may be billed as several segments, while an advertised rate may apply only to one sender type, route, volume tier or prepaid balance.

Compare total cost for the same sample: destination country, message text, recipient count, sender category and month. Add subscriptions, setup, VAT and the cost of failed or repeated sends.

  • Cost per delivered segment, not only the headline rate
  • Minimum purchase, credit expiry and monthly subscription
  • Delivery reporting, support, API and opt-out tools

Public pricing snapshot on 26 August 2026

On the official pages reviewed, BulkGate listed Cyprus from €0.0093 excluding VAT and Greece at €0.033 with a text sender; other sender types were listed at €0.0396. Rates and route availability change, so recheck before purchase.

sms-marketing.gr listed a scale from about €0.036 at low volume to €0.0305 at 200,000 SMS excluding Greek VAT, while Yuboto stated a broad €0.035–€0.050 range. These are different offers, not proof that one provider is categorically cheapest.

Do not compare booking software with a bare gateway

An SMS gateway sells message delivery, while booking software may include a calendar, automation, templates, sync and SMS units. BookNow, for example, published €0.04 per reminder including Cyprus VAT alongside a separate platform subscription.

Kleise Rantevou displayed Plus at €17.99/month with 700 SMS units and bulk marketing, and Pro at €22.99 with 1,000 units on 26 August 2026. Converting that to a raw per-SMS price would be misleading without confirming VAT, what a unit means and the value of the other features.

Check quality, sender and compliance

Request tests to real Greek and Cypriot numbers, delivery receipts and a written route description. Alphanumeric sender IDs and replies vary by country and provider; Twilio’s Greece and Cyprus guidelines, for example, list sender-ID support but no two-way SMS.

Review the data-processing agreement, subprocessors, suppression list and opt-out process. A low rate cannot compensate for an unlawfully sourced list or weak removal controls.

Use a verifiable quote sheet

Give every candidate the same scenario: countries, monthly volume, average GSM-7 and Unicode copy, sender, API needs and support level. Ask for a final VAT-inclusive cost and all restrictions in writing.

The EU comparative-advertising directive calls for objective, material, relevant and verifiable comparisons that are not misleading. Keep the date and evidence behind every rate, and avoid “the cheapest” unless you can continuously substantiate it.

Frequently asked questions

Who is the cheapest bulk-SMS provider in Cyprus?

There is no permanent answer. Public rates differ by route, sender, segments, VAT and volume, so obtain final quotes for the same scenario.

Does the SMS rate include VAT?

Not always. The reviewed BulkGate and sms-marketing.gr pages stated prices excluding VAT, while BookNow stated its reminder rate including Cyprus VAT.

Is Kleise the cheapest solution?

We do not make that claim. Kleise bundles booking software and SMS units, so compare total cost and operational value rather than a synthetic raw rate.
