What can appear and who is eligible

Business links let eligible categories, such as hair salons, send customers from Search or Maps to an appointment action. Availability varies by category and region, so Bookings may not appear on every profile.

You need a verified Business Profile and a public URL that opens without login. The link should represent that business or location and lead directly to the relevant action, not a generic homepage.

Prepare a booking URL that can be verified

Open the page in a private window and on a phone. Check HTTPS, speed, business identity, services, location, language and live availability. Remove broken redirects, spaces and backslashes from the URL.

For multiple branches, use a location-specific URL on each profile. A shared homepage makes customers select the location again and weakens both verification and attribution.

  • Public, crawlable page
  • HTTPS without redirect chains
  • Correct location and services
  • Mobile booking without a mandatory app
  • Clear change and cancellation terms

Add the link from your Business Profile

Sign in with the profile manager account, find the business on Google Search and open Bookings or the corresponding business-links editor. Choose the option to add your own link, paste the complete https URL and save.

Google changes interface labels over time. If the control is absent, check verification, category and eligibility; do not select an inaccurate category merely to expose a button.

Measure clicks and completed bookings separately

Add UTM parameters such as source=google, medium=organic and campaign=business_profile_booking if the booking page and analytics setup preserve them. Complete a test and confirm that no personal data appears in the URL.

Clicks are not bookings. Track visits, flow starts and confirmations as separate events. If users arrive but abandon, address services, availability and mobile friction first.

Verify after publication

Google may take time to review and publish a change. View the profile as a customer, follow the link and complete a test. Keep opening hours, address, phone and services consistent across profile and booking page.

Repeat the check after changing domain, provider or location slug. A stale link loses high-intent customers at the final decision point.

Frequently asked questions

Why can’t I see a booking option?

Eligibility varies by category and region. Confirm that the profile is verified and accurate, then check current Google guidance.

Can I use UTM parameters?

Usually, provided the URL remains valid and the page preserves them. Never place personal data in UTM values or the query string.

Do I need Reserve with Google?

Not to add your own link where business links are available. Reserve with Google is a separate provider integration.
